Deputy Prime Minister Hong Nam-ki and Minister of Strategy and Finance said on the 5th, “Amid the crisis of the new coronavirus infection (Corona 19), the financial market has shown a steady state without shaking, but concerns about the gap between the real thing and finance are growing.”

Deputy Prime Minister Hong said in his New Year’s address at the ‘2021 Pan-Finance New Year’s Meeting’ held on the same day, “We need to make every effort to stabilize the financial sector through thorough risk management than this year.”

Deputy Prime Minister Hong explained, “The government will also carefully manage liquidity in the market while paying particular attention to the possibility that the liquidity that has rapidly increased in the process of responding to the crisis will cause a shift to the asset market or a surge in debt.”

He added, “Considering that the corona crisis is still ongoing, in the process of normalizing financial support in the future, we will continue to consider orderly normalization so that a soft landing can occur without impairing financial stability.”

Deputy Prime Minister Hong emphasized that financial support to support the real market is important. “We ask for active support so that tailored financial support, such as a special support program for small business tenants in limited industries, can serve as a source of drought for small businesses.”

He said, “I hope that the financial sector will revitalize finance for future growth engines such as the Korean version of the New Deal, and play a leading role in leading the Korean economy to sustainable growth in the process of transitioning to a low-carbon, green economy.”
