‘Asian Champion’ Ulsan Hyundai finished the tournament in 6th place without even winning a single win at the FIFA Club World Cup.

Ulsan played the 5th and 6th place match between Alduhail SC (Qatar) and the 2020 International Football Federation (FIFA) Club World Cup at the Ahmed bin Ali Stadium in Al Rayyan, Qatar, at 00:00 (KST) on the 8th.

Ulsan competed in the tournament last year as the champions team of the Asian Football Federation (AFC) Champions League.

Ulsan lost to the 5th and 6th place in their first match against North and Central American Tigres UANL (Mexico) on the 4th.

Opponent Alduhail is the winner of the 2019-2020 season Qatar 1st Division, Stars League. Alduhail lost 0-1 to African champion Al Ahli (Egypt) to meet Ulsan.

Ulsan came out with a 4-2-3-1 formation.

Austrian’national team’ striker Lucas Hintercontrol took the lead with one top. In the second line, Youngwoo Seol, Bitgaram Yoon and Dongjun Lee were established. Kim Seong-jun and Won Doo-jae took over. Jo Hyun-woo was the chief of staff.

Ulsan scored the first goal for Edmilson Jr. 4 minutes after the game started. Fortunately, it was invalidated offside and Ulsan swept his chest.

However, in the 15th minute of the first half, Edmilson’s mid-range shot from the front of the penalty again broke Ulsan’s goal.

Ulsan counterattacked, but rather often faced counterattacks. Cho Hyun-woo saved himself from the crisis.

In the second half, Ulsan replaced Hinter Control and Davidson and replaced Kim Ji-hyun and Kim In-seong. In the 17th minute of the second half, in a hassle in front of the opponent’s goal, Bitgaram Yoon tied the goal with a left-footed shot.

However, Ulsan allowed Mohamed Muntari’s reversal goal in the 21st minute of the second half, followed by Almoez Ali in the 37th minute of the second half.

The match ended in 1-3. Ulsan, who participated in the Club World Cup for the second time, remained in the bottom of the six participating teams with a total loss of two matches. Ulsan also received the last score report with 2 losses in 2012 when they first played.

The 6th place prize money is 1 million dollars (about 1.1 billion won).

Ulsan coach Hong Myung-bo said, “I will reap the beauty of the end” before this game, but after taking office, I returned home with realizing only the high wall of world-class clubs at the first official tournament.
