In order to prevent the spread of the novel coronavirus infection (Corona 19), the Hong Kong government has issued a severe drug prescription to completely block hundreds of old buildings in the downtown area. Building residents are tested for corona19.

On the 23rd (local time) at 4 am, the Hong Kong government announced that it had blocked more than 200 buildings in the Yao Chim Mong district, including Yau Ma Tei, Tsim Sha Tsui, and Mong Kok. 1,700 civil servants, including police, were also deployed on the scene. This is a measure to prevent residents from leaving. This is the first time that Hong Kong has completely blocked a specific area and conducted a mandatory corona19 test on all residents.

The authorities plan to conduct a mandatory corona19 confirmation test on all people in the containment building while controlling the movement of residents for 48 hours on weekends. If you want to leave the area after the blockade is lifted, you must present a COVID-19 voice certificate. It is estimated that tens of thousands of people live in the buildings where the blockade was put down. The authorities explained that the area included many apartments with high population density and poor living conditions by dividing one house into several and renting it to several people.

It is pointed out that it is unusual for the Hong Kong government to prescribe a drug that is used only in mainland China. This is because the Hong Kong government has never put in place a blockade that completely restricts freedom of movement. The Hong Kong Daily South China Morning Post (SCMP) said on the day that “this blockade, which designated mandatory inspection areas, was the most powerful measure that came out after the Corona 19 pandemic.”

In a statement released today, the Hong Kong government said, “There may be short-term inconveniences, but through this blockade, we hope to break the infection chain and restore business and livelihoods.” In Hong Kong, a total of 61 cases of Corona 19 infection, including 55 community infections, were discovered on the 22nd. The cumulative corona19 confirmed in Hong Kong is approaching 10,000. There were also 168 deaths.
