“When I play with Congressman Hong Joon-pyo once, it’s too tired and difficult. He has good memory and tenacity. If someone confronts Congressman Hong, he says,’It’s best not to fight.’

At the time when Congressman Hong confronted the party leadership over the issue of nomination ahead of the 4-15 general elections, a key official of the Future Integration Party (predecessor of the people’s power) said in a private seat.

Representative Hong’s recent intensive attack is Professor Park Hyung-joon of Dong-A University, who ran for the Busan Mayor’s by-election. It was on the 23rd that the gun was opened. On Facebook, “A person who was in the real world during MB (former President Lee Myung-bak) came out to try the mayor of Busan, and he hatched that he was good at saying that Kim Jong-in apologized for the mistakes of the two former presidents. Isn’t that the reason for this?”

Prior to this, in the power of the people, noise was raised over the fact that Chairman Kim Jong-in made an apology to the public for the arrest of former Presidents Lee Myung-bak and Park Geun-hye. In this process, he attacked Professor Park.

Prof. Park immediately said, “If a criticism based on facts, it will be regarded as a politician’s adage and it will be sweetly received, but it is not true at all,” he said. “I am not apologizing for the former president. He said that he should apologize for handing over him. Also, he refuted that he was trying to do his humane through various channels to former President Lee. He pointed out, “Rep. Hong, a big conservative politician, eagerly asks that he will be the centerpiece for the re-creation of the conservative regime instead of holding books for his juniors.”

However, on the 27th, Rep. Hong said, “I ruined all those good general elections and the day I ruined the general election, I went out to KBS and played with Yoo Si-min as much as I can.” Professor Park explained, “On the day of the general election, KBS appearances were already contracted, so it was impossible to destroy them, so we coordinated with our leadership to appear,” but did not respond in an open manner.

Inside and outside the party, the word “still” comes out. It is because of the history of conflict between the two that has been going on for a long time. The first to be talked about is the 2006 local elections. At the time, Congressman Hong was mentioned as a major candidate for mayor of Seoul by the Grand National Party (predecessor of the people’s power). However, the new political demand meeting and other minority groups argued that a new candidate was needed instead of Hong. The representative of the demand group was Professor Park, and the one they proposed as an alternative was Mayor Oh Se-hoon, who was away from the political world. This is the remarks of Professor Park and Congressman Hong at the time.

▶Professor Park = “A media survey showed that the leading GNP candidates are lagging behind. The leadership can actively recruit outsiders. As the recruitment of former lawmakers is discussed, the former Minister of Justice Kang Geum-sil and each begin to stand.”

▶ Representative Hong = “I had a hard few months because the talk of recruiting outsiders continued to come out. I hope that the leadership will not dwarf candidates and bring them down if possible.”

An official from the power of the people said, “Rep. Hong was a nomination judge for the general election in 2004, and Professor Park was nominated to become a member of the parliament. “When Professor Park applied for Mayor Oh, who is his high school junior (Daeil High School), instead of his college senior (Korea University), Congressman Hong would have felt betrayed.” In fact, Congressman Hong mentioned that day, “After giving our party nomination to Suyeong in Busan, we became the 17th member of the National Assembly.”

The two’s next bad story is also related to the former mayor. In 2011, when the former Mayor Oh took the post of mayor in the free meal vote, Congressman Hong was the representative of the Grand National Party and strongly opposed the resignation of the mayor. However, Mayor Oh immediately threw the mayor. A party official who knows the situation at the time said, “Oh, the resignation of the former mayor became a frenzy that caused the collapse of the representative system of Hong Joon-pyo.” I thought it was encouraging the resignation of the mayor’s job in order to raise it as a presidential champion.”

Regarding this, Professor Park’s official said, “It is a misunderstanding that is completely different from the facts.” “The resignation was actively held back. Oh, even if you ask the mayor, you can immediately find out.” The arguments on both sides are mixed. However, it is clear that the relationship between the two was more twisted during this period.

Even during the last general election, the two formed an uncomfortable composition. Congressman Hong withdrew after a nomination conflict with the leadership, but Professor Park led the conservative consolidation and led the general election at the core, including as chairman of the party’s joint election countermeasures.

In addition, it is interpreted that Congressman Hong’s offensive may have been influenced by not only the bad luck of the past but also realistic factors. From the standpoint of Congressman Hong, who is preparing for the presidential election, if Professor Park becomes the mayor of Busan, whose relationship is uncomfortable, he can lose one of the main support bases, Busan.

An opposition official said, “The two are famous in the party, but they are not criticized only for personal resentment.” “Considering the current political landscape, it can be seen as a problem related to the supremacy of Yeongnam including Busan and Gyeongnam. There is” he said.
