100 students and faculty members, including students and faculty members, were tested positive for Corona 19 at the Gwangju TCS International School under the IM Mission in Gwangsan-gu, Gwangju. Gwangju Mayor Yong-seop Yong-seop held an emergency press conference at 9:30 pm on the 26th and said, “100 students, faculty, and church members, including students, faculty and church members, were tested positive for Corona 19 at Gwangju TS International School, an unauthorized educational facility in Gwangsan-gu. Of the 135 officials, including students, faculty, and church members, 100 are positive, 26 are negative, and the remaining 9 are undergoing examination. The city of Gwangju plans to transfer the school’s students and faculty members, who have been confirmed as confirmed, to a life treatment center near their residence. This is the first time in Gwangju that 100 people have been tested positive in one facility at a time. Gwangju TCS (Two Commandment School) International School in Gwangsan-gu opened in 2018 and currently has 122 students and faculty members from all over the country living in elementary and secondary courses. It is reported that this school is operated as a branch of the Daejeon International Mission (IM) Mission. Gwangju TCS International School is located in a three-story building, the first floor is a church, and the second and third floors and basements are used as educational facilities. A Gwangju TCS official said, “The dormitory is in a separate space from the school. According to the size of the room, 4 to 6 people live.” It turned out that Gwangju TCS International School lived in a group dormitory in violation of the quarantine authorities banning groups of five or more. An official from TCS International School in Gwangju said, “Students who finished their six-day vacation from December 24th of last month have lived in dormitories from December 29th. Only one patient who had fever symptoms was negatively determined, and students were tested for fever every day, but there were no fever symptoms at all. It was difficult to follow the government’s quarantine guidelines because we lived in community together 24 hours a day as an unauthorized boarding school.” The quarantine authorities are planning to investigate whether officials from TCS International School in Gwangju have been in contact with officials from Daejeon IM Mission. Gwangju TCS International School said, “We had a non-image meeting, but there was no contact with Daejeon I.M. Mission.” Earlier, 37 confirmed cases have occurred since the 23rd at TCS Ace International School in Buk-gu, Gwangju. The number of confirmed cases related to IEM International School in Daejeon also reached 171. Daejeon I.M. Mission, which teaches Christian faith and middle and high school courses to teenage students with the aim of training missionaries, operates 16 unauthorized educational facilities nationwide.
