(Seoul = Yonhap News) Reporter Yoo-dam Hong = E-Land World announced on the 21st that it recalled that harmful chemicals were detected in school bags for elementary school students of its sports brand New Balance Skies.

The product in question is the pink product of the’Starlit-Girl Elementary School Backpack’ released as a product for the spring and summer season this year. In the heart-shaped decoration attached to the front of the bag, a phthalate plasticizer was detected above the standard value.

Phthalate plasticizers are harmful chemicals that can cause liver damage and poor reproductive function.

This fact was confirmed through a recent safety investigation conducted by the National Institute of Technology and Standards.

An official from E-Land World said, “It’s still before the official announcement of the National Institute of Technology and Standards, but we’ve been recalling it from the 17th to take preemptive measures before the full-scale new semester begins.”

New Balance Skies said through the official social network service (SNS), “In the case of this product, it was determined that other materials were mixed in the production process, so we are re-examining the production process and taking measures to prevent the same errors.”

The recall is due until April 16th, and you can visit the nearest New Balance Skies store with the product.
