Signed MOU for cooperation in the field of defense satellite communications
Hanwha Systems announced on the 25th that it has signed a’MOU for cooperation in the field of defense satellite communications’ with Intellian Technologies, the world’s number one company in the maritime satellite communication antenna field.
Through this agreement, the two companies plan to develop a variety of military tactical mobile (OTM) satellite communication terminals by combining Intelliantech’s satellite communication antenna technology capabilities with Hanwha Systems’ own antenna chipset technology.
In addition, it plans to strengthen its technological competitiveness in the field of OTM terminals by combining it with the satellite communication terminal modem of the existing military satellite communication system.
The OTM terminal can be mounted on a vehicle to provide multimedia services such as voice, video, and data transmission in both directions through satellite while on the move. Unlike existing fixed satellite communication terminals, mobility is guaranteed, enabling real-time command and control and sharing of battlefield conditions on the battlefield. In addition, it can be used as a mobile base station in disaster areas such as fire, flood, earthquake, or conflict areas such as local warfare and terrorism.
Meanwhile, Hanwha Systems is the only company in Korea to participate in the repeater core technology project for localization of the military satellite communication system and to secure related technologies. In addition, Hanwha Systems has been developing and supplying satellite terminals, communication modems, and network controllers, which are the core of the satellite terrestrial system field for over 20 years.
In particular, Hanwha Systems has unrivaled domestic technology for satellite communication modems included in satellite terminals, and plans to proceed with mass production of the military satellite communication system-II project.
Intellian Tech is a representative domestic company that develops and manufactures satellite communication antenna systems.
After achieving the No. 1 market share in the marine satellite communication antenna market, Intelliantech is leading the global market in the satellite communication antenna field by expanding its product range to manufacturing antennas for land and low-orbit satellites.
