Hanwha Solutions conducts reorganization… Expansion of investment in new business

Wind Power Project Advancement and Hydrogen Technology Research Center New Construction

Hanwha Solutions, celebrating its 1st anniversary, reorganized on the 4th to expand investment in new growth projects such as solar power generation. Hanwha Solutions announced that it has expanded and reorganized its global GES (Green Energy Solution) business unit in charge of renewable power generation projects.

The key is to reinforce the capabilities of the renewable energy power plant development project by integrating the development, EPC (design, procurement, and construction) and project finance functions that were scattered in various business units into the global GES business unit.

The GES division decided to advance into wind power projects based on its accumulated capabilities in the solar power sector.

In the green hydrogen business sector, the existing water electrolysis technology development team was expanded and reorganized to the’hydrogen technology research center’ and strengthened the R&D capabilities.

Hanwha Solutions plans to hire more than 250 people, including domestic and foreign researchers, only in the solar and green hydrogen fields this year.

Kim Hee-cheol, CEO of Q-Cell Division, said, “Last year, due to the impact of Corona 19, we were unable to actively engage in power plant development projects.” “We will be actively engaged in the energy generation business.”

Hanwha Solutions was launched in January of last year after a merger between Hanwha Chemical and Hanwha Q Cells & Advanced Materials. President Kim Dong-gwan, the eldest son of Hanwha Group Chairman Kim Seung-yeon, is leading the CEO.

Hanwha Solutions recently decided to raise a capital increase worth 1.2 trillion won and announced that it will invest 2.8 trillion won in next-generation solar power and green hydrogen projects over the next five years.
