Hanwha Q CELLS recently sold an 81 MW solar power plant in Cook County, Texas. Adapture Renewables, which takes over this power plant, specializes in solar power plant business development, EPC (design, procurement, and construction) execution and power plant operation.

According to Hanwha Q Cells on the 4th, construction of this power plant started in April last year, completed in December, and started commercial operation. Located about 140 km north of Dallas in the United States, the power plant produces electricity that can be used by about 115,000 people per year in Korean standards.

Hanwha Q CELLS announced its vision of becoming a total energy solution company in January of last year, and is actively pursuing solar power plant business development and EPC along with the existing solar module business. Furthermore, businesses such as power sales and distributed power management are also in progress.

In fact, Hanwha Q CELLS acquired 940 MW and 429 MW photovoltaic power generation business rights from RIC Energy in Spain in December 2019 and November 2020, respectively. In August of last year, it secured a 315 MW solar power generation business right in Portugal for the first time in Portugal.

In the electricity sales and distributed power business, the number of households registered in Q.ENERGY, a German household power supply business, reached 100,000 in January.

Hee-cheol Kim, President of Hanwha Q Cells, said, “We are moving beyond solar cell and module manufacturers into a total renewable energy solution company. We will continue to actively promote solar power plant project development and EPC business in advanced energy markets such as the United States and Europe.” Revealed.

Meanwhile, Hanwha Q CELLS ranked first in the US residential and commercial module market in the third quarter of last year. It was ranked first for the 9th consecutive quarter in residential and 4th consecutive quarter in the commercial sector.
