[투데이에너지 송명규 기자] We selected 29 targets for the ‘2020 Happy Sunshine’ campaign to install and support photovoltaic power generation facilities for free at Hanwha Group’s board of directors welfare facilities. The targets for the Happy Sunshine campaign were recruited through the website of the Hanwha Community Service Corps, and the final selection was made through document screening and on-site inspection.

The total power generation capacity of 29 newly selected locations is 173kW, which is equivalent to the electricity used by 57 households. Through the Happy Sunshine Campaign, Hanwha has provided 2,187kW solar power generation facilities to 320 welfare facilities for 10 years since 2011. This is equivalent to planting more than 910,000 pine trees (20 years old) by reducing 507 tons of CO2 emissions.

Seon-ae Lim, head of the Jinjam Children’s Center in Daejeon, selected for this year’s support, said, “The cost of operating the facility was not sufficient, so the electricity cost was high in the summer and winter when the heating and cooling facilities were used a lot.” I think I can spend this winter warmly without worrying about electricity bills.”

The’Happy Sunshine’ campaign is an eco-friendly energy social contribution program that utilizes solar power, an eco-friendly energy business of Hanwha Group. Donate solar power generation facilities to social welfare facilities for free and use the reduced electricity bill for other welfare services. In addition, concerns and concerns about the future and the environment are increasing more than ever due to Corona 19, climate change and global warming around the world, recognizing the importance of eco-friendly energy in the situation, and helping welfare facilities energy independence.

A process to prevent safety accidents in advance by thorough follow-up management such as maintenance of installed solar power generation facilities and monitoring of power generation has also been prepared.

Support targets include welfare institutions such as general welfare centers and regional children’s centers across the country, and individuals and facilities with public interest such as social enterprises. In particular, considering the size and location of the facility and the amount of electricity used, the place where the need for solar power generation facilities is urgent was selected first.

Hanwha installed roof-type photovoltaic power generation facilities free of charge not only in Korea, but also overseas, including Yuyang Guanqian Elementary School in Hubei Province, China, and Shigeowuxiang Hope School in Qinghai Province. In addition, since 2012, a total of 7 forests have been created in Mongolia, China and Korea through the’Hanwha Sun Forest’ campaign to create eco-friendly forests at home and abroad to respond to environmental issues such as climate change, desertification, yellow dust, and fine dust. have.

Up to now, about 500,000 trees have been planted in an area of 1.33 million m² (about 4.6 times the area of Yeouido), and the forests created in this way have the same effects as preventing desertification, water purification, air purification, and sediment spillage in the area. have.

Hanwha Group Chairman Seung-yeon Kim emphasized the role of companies for economic, social and environmental sustainability in the 68th anniversary of the founding in October and ordered enterprise-wide ESG management, social contribution, and win-win cooperation. Accordingly, Hanwha is paying attention to limitless eco-friendly energy resources that will provide fundamental solutions to the energy problems facing humanity. It is leading the solar energy market with the world’s best advanced technology and production capacity, and is spurring the development of green hydrogen energy technology and eco-friendly plastic technology.
