[이데일리 스타in 이석무 기자] Professional baseball Hanwha Eagles will start the 2021 Spring Camp at the baseball field of Hacheong Sports Town in Geoje, Gyeongnam.

The Hanwha club announced on the 7th that “We initially decided to hold the spring camp in Daejeon Hanwha Life Insurance Eagles Park and Seosan Futures Stadium, but we decided to start the first camp in Geoje considering the efficiency of training in accordance with the climate environment.”

In Geoje, Gyeongsangnam-do, the average temperature in February for the past three years is about 4℃ higher than that of Daejeon. The perceived temperature is expected to be higher than that of inland Daejeon due to the turbulence of the South Sea.

The 1st Army squad will hold their first camp in Geoje, which has a good climate, for 14 days from February 1st to 14th. It focuses on improving fitness and fitness for technical and organizational training.

The lodging for the players is Geoje Belvedere, operated by Hanwha Hotels & Resorts, a Hanwha affiliate. It is a resort with state-of-the-art facilities, which was grand opened in 2018, and is evaluated for its excellent surroundings and internal facilities. In particular, the club’s expectation is that the training efficiency will be higher as it is equipped with facilities capable of group weight training for the team.

From the 16th, the campsite will be moved to Hanwha Life Insurance Eagles Park in Daejeon, and the second camp will be held until the 28th. In the second camp, they start preparing for actual battles through organizational play and skill training. During this period, coaches including Subero and other foreign coaches plan to identify not only players but also the home stadium. Camp training will be ended from March, and actual training including practice matches with other clubs will be started.

The proposal of General Manager Min-cheol Jung played a decisive role in the decision of the first camp site. As a former pitcher, General Manager Jung Min-cheol has been searching for training sites in the southern coastal area, claiming the effectiveness of training in pitching tanks that are sensitive to the climate. In the meantime, after hearing the news that the Amaya baseball training had been canceled due to Corona 19, he went directly to Geoje to visit the stadium facilities, and was selected as the final candidate for the first camp.

CEO Park Chan-hyuk received the decision of the leader and visited the Geoje Belvedere, which will be used as a lodging for the squad, and checked whether the squad’s accommodation was available during the camp, and then checked the overall facilities such as meals, use of convenience facilities, and quarantine measures. The club plans to proceed with measures such as adjusting the height of the bullpen mound, repairing infield soil, and repairing various safety devices through consultations with officials in Geoje before the camp begins.

Meanwhile, the Futures team is planning to conduct a spring camp using Seosan Stadium.
