Hana Financial Group Chairman Kim Jung-tae was the sole candidate for the next Hana Financial Group chairman.

On the 24th, Hana Financial Group announced that the president-elect was elected as the sole candidate by conducting an in-depth interview with four shortlists for the next chairman at the Presidential Candidate Recommendation Committee.

In addition to Hana Financial Group Chairman Kim Jeong-tae, who entered the shortlist, Hana Financial Group Vice Chairman Ham Young-ju, Hana Bank Vice President Park Seong-ho, and former Citi Bank Korea President Park Jin-hoe all had interviews on this day.

Candidate Kim Jong-tae is scheduled to take office as chairman after a regular shareholders’ meeting held in March. Originally, the term of office for President Kim Jong-tae was limited to one year according to the internal norms of Hana Financial Group’s governance structure. According to the internal norms of corporate governance, 70-year-olds cannot serve as chief executive officer, because Chairman Kim Jong-tae is in the 69th century this year.

Hana Financial Group Chairman Kim Jong-tae once again served as chairman, and became the second and fourth chairman after Shinhan Financial Group’s former chairman Ra Eung-chan. Chairman Kim Jong-tae entered his fourth term after taking office as Chairman of Hana Financial Group in March 2012.

After being nominated as a presidential candidate for a one-year extension, Chairman Kim Jong-tae said, “With a heavy sense of responsibility, I will devote myself to overcoming the crisis caused by internal and external uncertainty caused by the novel coronavirus (Corona 19) and stabilizing the organization of the group.”
