If the former US President Donald Trump creates a new party, almost half of the Republicans say they will join the new party, a poll found. Also, about 60% of Republicans said they want former President Trump to rerun for the next presidential election.

According to a poll released by USA Today and Suffolk University on the 21st (local time), 46% of Republicans said they would abandon the Republican Party and go to the’Trump Party’ if former President Trump decides to establish it.

Only 27% of respondents said they would remain with the Republican Party, while the rest were’undecided’.

Half of the respondents said the Republican Party should be more loyal to former President Trump. Only 19% of respondents said the party should lower their loyalty to Trump.

Only 4% of respondents said their support fell due to the impeachment of the former President of Trump, which was promoted by taking responsibility for the congressional invasion last month, and 42% said the support increased. 54% of respondents said that the impeachment trial did not affect their support.

59% of the respondents said they wanted Trump to run for the 2024 presidential election again, twice as many as 29%. 76% of respondents said they would support if they ran.

Respondents showed strong resentment to Democratic President Joe Biden. 73%, three out of four, said President Biden was not legally elected.

62% of respondents said Republicans should confront President Biden on key policies. This was far greater than that of respondents (26%) saying that they should cooperate even if they compromise.

These results are interpreted to show that Trump is receiving considerable support even after retirement amid high observations that Trump will engage in activities to maintain political influence.

Trump’s impeachment attempt was ended with the Senate’s rejection, but the Republican Party showed a form of infighting, such as splitting of party arguments over this issue, and exposed conflict over the course of the party.

The survey was conducted on the 15th to 19th of 1,000 Republican voters who photographed former President Trump in last year’s presidential election, with a sample error of ±3%.
