Gwangmyeong City announced on the 28th that it was finally selected as the ‘2021 Regional Energy New Industry Revitalization Support Project’ promoted by the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy and secured 470 million won in national expenditure.

The support project for revitalizing new regional energy industries is a project for the Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Energy to discover and support new energy industry business models suitable for regional characteristics from 2016. This year, a total of 17 projects participated in the public offering, and Gwangmyeong City proposed projects were selected through evaluation.

H Energy Co., Ltd. (supervisory agency), cooperative based on citizen members, and Gwangmyeong City formed a consortium to promote the’Citizen-led Green New Deal Project based on Sharing Platform’. It will invest 1.87 billion won for 10 months from this month, including 470 million won each (50% of the total project cost) for national and municipal expenses.

In this project, citizens and building owners install photovoltaic power on an empty rooftop, tie it to a shared platform, and operate it as a single power plant. Citizens who want to earn profits by investing in the Green New Deal market, or citizens who want to realize the value of the climate environment by participating in RE 100 (a campaign that allocates 100% of the electricity used by companies with renewable energy) by sharing rooftop solar power can participate. have.

The cooperative consisting of citizens runs the power generation business, and H Energy, as a power brokerage business, connects individually installed solar power plants to a single platform to mediate the generated power and operate the power plant in a stable manner.

A new type of virtual power platform means a service that virtually integrates scattered solar power generation facilities and demand, and manages it like a single power plant.

In particular, residents of jeon, monthly rent, and apartments, who have had limitations due to lack of capital or insufficient place to install, even if they wanted to do solar power business, can participate in the photovoltaic power generation business in the form of a fund through this project and share their profits.

In particular, it is worth noting that there is no environmental destruction by constructing solar power plants on idle sites such as rooftops or roofs that are not currently in use, such as multi-family houses, apartments, commercial facilities, schools, and public institutions, rather than land, fields, or hills.

Project capital from initial facility investment to power generation business profits, rooftop rental profits, and return of local communities will circulate virtuously within the region, promoting the revitalization of the local energy market, raising expectations for revitalization of the local economy in Gwangmyeong.

Park Seung-won, Mayor of Gwangmyeong, said, “This project aims to support the transition from the existing government-led renewable energy supply to the citizen-led green new deal.” said.

Meanwhile, H-Energy, who was in charge of the operation of the Gwangmyeong Citizen’s Virtual Power Plant, will proceed with the project by completing a business agreement with each participating organization by March and then starting the pre-recruitment of members and rooftop owners.
