Gwangju City held an emergency briefing at 9:20 pm, presided over by Mayor Yong-seop Lee, and said, “The largest mass infection occurred in Gwangju TCS International School, an unauthorized educational facility located in Gwangsan-gu.” As a result of an investigation by the quarantine authorities on 135 students, including Gwangju TCS International School students, faculty members, and church members, 100 were confirmed positive. 26 are negative and 9 are undergoing tests.

According to the quarantine authorities, Gwangju TCS International School, operated by Hanmaeum Church, is an organization related to the IM Mission and is an unlicensed educational facility for training missionaries. It was operated as a camp with 122 students and faculty members from all over the country. As for the age, it was found that there were many minors from 6 to 10 years old. Of the 122, 66 are Gwangju citizens. The authorities are planning to transfer the confirmed person to a life treatment center near where they live.

When the first confirmed case occurred at TCS Ace International School (Buk-gu, Gwangju) on the 23rd, Gwangju City discovered three similar unauthorized educational facilities through a field investigation. As a result of the epidemiological investigation, Gwangju TCS International School has three floors, and the first and third floors were used as educational and dormitory spaces. Authorities estimated that the rate of infection was fast as 122 people stayed and eaten at once. Of the remaining two unauthorized educational facilities, one of them was family-oriented and only four officials stayed, and one of them was in the pre-operation stage and there were no test subjects.

TCS Ace International School, where 37 corona19 confirmed cases were found, is a dormitory where students and faculty members live and eat together while going through a homeschooling type of curriculum, and it has been revealed to be a structure that is vulnerable to group infection.
