Concerns about the spread of local infection are growing as teachers working in international schools related to the IM Mission in Gwangju, where a new coronavirus infection (Corona 19) is outbreaked, are engaged in a wide range of activities in the region.

Some teachers attend church, run day care centers, or act as teachers, so the quarantine authorities are keenly aware of the possibility of quiet spread.

According to the quarantine authorities on the 27th, there were 4 facilities related to the IM Mission in Gwangju (2 camps and 2 non-campus sites).

A large number of confirmed cases have been reported at the TCS International School and TCS Ace International School, which are camp facilities, and full inspections are in progress at two non-campus facilities.

At TCS (Ace) International School, most of the teachers and students who lived together were confirmed.

Teachers are related to Gwangju, and students are residents of Gwangju and other regions.

In particular, teachers are known to be pastors and members of churches in the Gwangju region, and they are known to be active as nursery directors and teachers.

It has been confirmed that some have gone to work without camping.

They hold a number of meetings, and such meetings are said to span the country.

In fact, it was confirmed that a serial infection had already progressed in the churches and day care centers where teachers are active.

In the case of TCS Ace International School, where 37 confirmed cases have been confirmed, 10 students and 5 teachers have been confirmed, and even teachers (6) and students (3) of daycare centers operated by confirmed teachers have been infected.

Six additional members of the church attended by teachers were also confirmed.

The quarantine authorities plan to closely analyze the community activities of confirmed teachers through GPS analysis and take additional precautions.

This is to prevent spread that may already be underway in the community through their activities.

It is believed that they may have exchanged with related facilities scattered across the country, and will cooperate with other local governments to understand the current status of exchanges.

As students are known to have lived in camps for 1 to 4 months during the vacation period, there are concerns about community infections caused by students.

It is known that students staying in camps and frequently used nearby shopping malls, and residents are becoming more anxious.

In addition to IM Mission, there are 6 unauthorized religious-related educational facilities in Gwangju (1 camp and 5 non-campus), and there is a possibility of further infection related to these facilities.

Gwangju City Welfare and Health Bureau Director Park Hyang said, “The establishment period has been long enough to attract students from all over the country. I am concerned about spreading to other regions,” he said.
