As the group ban on idle businesses was maintained as a measure to extend social distancing for two weeks, businesses in Gwangju City started a collective outbreak, such as planning tents. The quarantine authorities are in the position of “inevitable measures”.

Sohn Young-rae, head of the Social Strategy Division, Central Accident Control Headquarters of the Ministry of Health and Welfare (hereinafter referred to as Jung Soo-bon), said, “I received a report from Gwangju City that there was opposition (of entertainment establishments) for living. Ban) is inevitably necessary.

“I will persuade them as much as possible,” he said. “Currently, the new coronavirus infection (Corona 19) is at risk of re-proliferation and there are many confirmed people.” Added.

In accordance with the new distancing measures announced by the quarantine authorities, indoor sports facilities including gyms, singing practice centers, and door-to-door sales offices, which are multi-use facilities, reopened from this day. It has been 41 days since the ban on the group was imposed on December 8 last year. Since November 24, last year, cafe stores that only allowed package sales can drink beverages such as coffee or eat food.

However, five types of entertainment facilities in the metropolitan area such as clubs, cola-tech, danran pub, hunting pot tea, and sensibility pub, and Hold’em pubs where you can drink while playing card games continue to apply a ban on grouping. Among them, Gwangju City, where the backlash from business owners is strong, is applying the second step of distancing, but a ban on gatherings was imposed at entertainment establishments to prevent the spread of Corona 19.

When Gwangju City decided to extend the second stage of social distancing, some entertainment establishments began to engage in collective action such as enforcement of sales. According to the Gwangju branch of the Korea Entertainment and Food Industry Federation, most of the 700 affiliated organizations have decided to engage in group action, such as reopening business from the 18th.

The business owners held a meeting on the 16th and gathered their will for group action. The three million won penalty imposed on businesses that violate quarantine regulations, such as prohibition of gatherings, will be shared with affiliated businesses.

Owners of entertainment establishments argued that “they agree with the purpose of quarantine regulations such as prohibition of gatherings, but the method of screening the applied industries is not fair.” Gwangju entertainment establishments have been holding’lit-up demonstrations’ with the store closed on the 5th, lighting signboards.

Meanwhile, Daegu City withdrew its original plan to extend the business hours of multi-use facilities such as restaurants from January 18th to 31st from 9pm to 11pm. Equity with other local governments, which set their business hours until 9 pm, and concerns of quarantine authorities are interpreted as accepted measures.
