A lot of snow fell in Gwangju and Jeonnam for the second day.

According to the Gwangju Regional Meteorological Administration on the 18th, the amount of snowfall at 9:30 am on the day was 15.1 cm in Naju, 14.1 cm in Gwangju mines, 12.9 cm in Haksan Yeongam, 11.6 cm in Hwasun, 10.5 cm in Jangseong, and 10.2 cm in Damyang.

Snow gradually faded, and heavy snow warnings were lifted in most regions of Gwangju and Jeonnam, excluding the west coast of Jeollanam-do.

Seven locations, including Haenam, Muan, Hampyeong, Yeonggwang, Mokpo, Sinan, and Jindo, which are maintained by the heavy snow warning, are also scheduled to be released as of 11:00 am.

The strongest cold also continued this morning, with the lowest temperatures of 7.7 degrees below zero in Gokseong, 6.5 degrees below zero in Gurye, 6.2 degrees below zero in Damyang, 6.6 degrees below zero in Gwangyang, 5.7 degrees below zero in Boseong and 5.4 degrees below zero in Gwangju.

The cold will record sub-zero temperatures until tomorrow morning, and then recover the temperature of 10-12 degrees from the daytime.

There were 6 slip accidents in Gwangju (3 falls, 3 traffic accidents) and 13 cases in Jeollanam-do (3 falls and 10 traffic accidents) on roads and sidewalks where snow fell from the previous day.

Twelve reports of damage were also received, including signage crashing or window damage due to strong winds.

An official from the Gwangju Regional Meteorological Office said, “The road will be very slippery due to snow accumulation or freezing,” he said. “Please ensure a sufficient safe distance when driving a vehicle on the way to work, and pay special attention to pedestrian safety such as falls.”
