The police conducted a lie detector investigation on Mr. A (48, female), who was accused of being the mother of a 3-year-old girl found dead in Gumi, Gyeongsangbuk-do, but did not yield much results.

My mother is gibberish, no lie detector

According to the Gumi Police Station in Gyeongbuk on the 15th, when Mr. A denied the fact that he had given birth as well as the charges of replacing the baby, he began investigating a lie detector. However, even in this investigation, the police could not find any clues to confirm the whereabouts of the missing child or who the father was. It was because Mr. A couldn’t judge whether it was a lie by gibberish during the investigation of the lie detector.

Police are currently focusing their investigation on finding the whereabouts of another 3-year-old child that appears to have been replaced shortly after birth. However, the investigation is falling into a labyrinth as Mr. A denies all of his allegations and does not provide specific details.

Immediately after his arrest on the 11th, Mr. A argued, “(The dead child) is the daughter of my daughter,” and “I have never had a daughter.” The investigative authorities have used a profiler to induce A to confess the details of the crime as well as the fact of her childbirth, but no clear results have been achieved.

Crime experts believe that Mr. A is constantly lying to hide something. Professor Lee Soo-jeong of the Department of Crime Psychology at Gyeonggi University said in a radio interview on the 15th, “If the child died during childbirth or died from ill, if it was a situation where the child died during childbirth, it means that we are not talking about that until now. Isn’t the daughter’s child alive somewhere right now?” he raised a suspicion.

Earlier, on the 10th of last month, a 3-year-old girl was found dead in a villa in Gumi City, and Mr. B (22, female) was arrested for murder and violation of the Child Welfare Act. Until then, it was understood that his mother, B, raised a dead girl, but left the girl alone at home for reasons such as remarriage, leading to death.

However, about a month after the incident, a DNA test by the police revealed that the mother A, not Mr. B, was his mother. Police reported that it is highly likely that Mr. A gave birth to a child at the same time as his daughter B, and then secretly exchanged the child with the child born by his daughter.

A police official said, “We are working in all directions to resolve the case,” and “we plan to make an official announcement when the results of the investigation come out.” The police plan to send the case of Mr. A to the prosecution as early as the 17th.
