The police investigating the case of a 3-year-old girl who died alone in a villa in Gumi, Gyeongbuk confirmed the situation that her mother Seok Mo (48, photo) gave up trying to abandon her body. However, the whereabouts of the missing girl’s daughter, who disappeared after replacing the dead girl to become the daughter of her daughter, Kim Mo (22), are still inconsistent.

On the 17th, the Gumi Police Department announced that it had sent Seok to the prosecutors’ office by adding a charge of attempting to abandon the body in addition to the charges of the weakening of a minor.

As a result of the investigation, Seok found a girl who died on the 9th of last month, a day before the police report. As originally known, Seok found a girl who died in a mummy state after receiving a call from the landlord asking her to leave the house due to the expiration of the contract with Kim’s house. However, Seok did not immediately report this to the police, and after notifying her husband about this the next day, her husband reported it to the police. The police have yet to find the circumstances of a conspiracy with her husband regarding the attempted abandonment of the body.

The police applied the charges of looting a minor to the missing girl to Suk and the attempted abandonment of the dead girl, respectively, and handed the case to the prosecution. A police official said, “Suk also admitted to the charges of attempting to abandon the body.”

However, despite the results of the DNA test, Seok still denies that he is “not his daughter.” Seok is known to have denied this fact and requested another DNA test when the DNA test result revealed that he was the mother of the girl who died. The police conducted DNA tests at least three times in all, including this process.

In this way, the police analyzed and investigated the call history, financial data, hospital medical records, etc. to find evidence that would reverse Seok’s statement, but the missing child’s whereabouts and father were still unable to confirm.

A police official said, “We are continuing to track the missing child by securing indirect clues, not direct clues,” and “We are constantly looking for the father of the dead girl.”

Regarding the request for conversion of the public investigation, the police explained that “the suspect has not admitted the crime and cannot proceed with the (public investigation) because he does not meet various conditions under the law.”
