The final plan of measures to improve traffic in Changneung New Town announced on the 29th by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport

[고양신문] It has been confirmed to attract the tentatively named Changneung GTX Station in the 3rd new town of Changneung, which is being pursued with the goal of completion in 2024. The location of the station is likely to be near the Hwarang intersection in Yongdu-dong, Deokyang-gu. As a result, it has been confirmed that a total of 3 stops on the GTX-A line in Goyang City, including the existing Kintex Station and Daegok Station.

On the 28th, the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport announced the confirmation of the’Changneung Regional Traffic Improvement Measures’ with the aim of establishing an additional station on the metropolitan area metropolitan express train (GTX)-A line in the Changneung New City. It is a super-sized project with 2.2 trillion won invested in a total of 16 projects, including 5 railways, 4 public transportations, and 7 roads. Prior to this, the Metropolitan Area Transportation Committee of the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport (Chairman Ki-joo Choi) made this decision through deliberation on the 4th.

The core of this is the new GTX-A Changneung Station. A total of 165 billion won is invested, and the entire budget is borne by LH. As it is connected to the previously announced Goyang Line, Changneung Station is expected to serve as a transportation hub that can solve the poor traffic problems of not only new cities but also nearby areas. An official from the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport said, “Through the establishment of Changneung Station, commuting to downtown Seoul will be possible within 30 minutes.”

Through this traffic plan, some changes will occur in the previously announced wide-area transportation network in Changneung New City. The most striking part is the change to the Goyang Line route. The Goyang Line (Saejeol Station-Goyang City Hall Station), the core of the wide-area traffic countermeasures in Changneung New City, was initially scheduled to be connected to Daegok Station (GTX) to increase the business feasibility. However, due to the newly established Changneung GTX Station, the Goyang Line does not go through Daegok, but transfers to Changneung GTX Station and Hwajeong Station Line 3 and heads straight to Goyang City Hall. In the LH position, which is responsible for the construction of the metropolitan transportation network in the new city, the burden of the increase in cost caused by the Daegok route is reduced. In fact, it is reported that LH has insisted on the necessity of establishing a new GTX Changneung Station from the beginning of the announcement of the new Changreung city.

In the background of the new Changneung GTX Station, there were active efforts from local congressmen, Goyang City, and residents. Congressman Shim Sang-jeong has publicly raised the necessity of establishing a new GTX Changneung Station as a measure for wide-area transportation in the new city since the initial announcement of the new city in Changneung last year. Goyang City also requested Changneung GTX Station in connection with the plan to establish a new meal station on the Goyang Line ahead of the announcement of this wide area traffic improvement plan. Residents of the’Deokyang Federation’ such as the Doraeul Village Federation and the Changneung New Town Countermeasure Committee have also tried to attract GTX Changneung Station by holding a large-scale assembly at Hwarang-ro intersection in Yongdu-dong, Deokyang-gu in July.

Last July, the residents of the'Deokyang Federation' such as the Doraeul Village Federation, held a gathering to attract GTX Changneung Station at Hwarang Intersection in Yongdu-dong, Deokyang-gu. The location is the site of GTX Changneung Station.
Last July, the residents of the’Deokyang Federation’ such as the Doraeul Village Federation, held a gathering to attract GTX Changneung Station at Hwarang Intersection in Yongdu-dong, Deokyang-gu. This location is promising as a predicted location for GTX Changneung Station.

Meanwhile, in addition to Changneung GTX Station, new transportation means from Daegok Station to Goyang City Hall Station to Siksa Station are introduced ▲ BRT linkage in connection with Hwajeon Station transfer facility ▲ Construction of a connecting road between Ilsan and Seooreung Road ▲ Susaek Bridge and Gangbyeon North Road It included expansion projects. An official from the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport said, “Through this measure, major travel times are expected to be shortened by 30 minutes to Seoul Station and 25 minutes to Yeouido, and road traffic conditions in the northwestern regions of the metropolitan area such as Wonheung, Hwajeong and Jichuk districts near Changneung New Town will also improve.” Told.
