The quarantine authorities are tense as the number of patients with a new coronavirus infection (Corona 19) in Korea has recorded 500 for the fourth day. The possibility of a 4th epidemic is raised as cases of group infection come out nationwide such as Busan, Suwon, and Cheongju.

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (Bangdaebon) of the Korea Centers for Disease Control and Prevention on the 3rd, there were 543 new cases of Corona 19 in Korea as of 0 o’clock on that day, of which 521 are domestic patients. There were 316 (60.7%) in the metropolitan area and 205 (39.3%) in the non-metropolitan area.

Earlier, Prime Minister Jeong Sye-gyun said at the Central Disaster and Safety Countermeasure Headquarters meeting the day before, “The number of confirmed patients is 500 a day, and the number of patients continues to increase in some areas such as Busan, Gyeongnam, and Chungbuk, as well as the metropolitan area, so I am concerned that re-proliferation has begun.” And said.

200 cumulative confirmed cases of Busan entertainment bar

The cumulative number of patients became 200 as 44 patients related to the Busan entertainment bar were additionally confirmed. Since the 24th of last month, a series of infections has been occurring among employees of entertainment establishments, users, families, and contacts. As the confirmed cases continued at 35 entertainment pubs and 6 job agencies, Bang Dae-bon changed the name of the existing ‘Busan song pub-related infection’ to ‘Infection related to the Busan entertainment pub.’

On the 30th of last month, 17 additional patients were related to the entertainment bar in Cheongju-si and Eumseong-gun, Chungcheongbuk-do. The cumulative number of patients is 18. There were 11 new patients related to a bar in Jung-gu, Daejeon, and a total of 12 were infected.

As group infection continues, mainly in entertainment facilities, the government plans to apply the zero-tolerance principle of suspending business without warning to workplaces that violate the quarantine rules.

Church-related patients are also continuing. In the case of Church A, where the first patient was released on the 31st of last month, 26 people have been infected so far as patients have continued in churches in Seoul, Gunsan, Jeollabuk-do, Daejeon, and Gumi, Gyeongbuk. The quarantine authorities believe that a congregational infection occurred through a rally at Church A held in Hoengseong-gun, Gangwon-do on the 29th of last month.

An exercise facility and church-related patient in Suwon-si, Gyeonggi-do, also had 11 infections after the first confirmed case was released on the 30th of last month. A daycare center in Michuhol-gu, Incheon and Osan-si, Gyeonggi-do, had 13 and 27 patients, respectively.
