Grayscale sweeps BTC… buys 3x mining rewards

[블록미디어 강주현 기자] The Grayscale Bitcoin Trust is sweeping Bitcoin. It was reported on the 15th (local time) that it bought three times more bitcoins than those returned to miners as rewards.

According to a recent Twitter of’GBTC Bitcoin Tracker’, the Grayscale Bitcoin Trust bought an additional 2612 bitcoins overnight. It is three times the reward received by all miners who have been active during the period.

Currently, the assets managed by the Grayscale Bitcoin Trust are $23.353 billion (KRW 25 trillion). It is the largest of the grayscale trusts. The Ethereum Trust also has assets of $3.43 billion.

Grayscale also provides trusts based on Ethereum Classic, Bitcoin Cash, Horizon, Litecoin, Stellar Lumen, and Zcash. The Ripple Trust, which recently had a legal dispute with the US Securities and Exchange Commission, was excluded from the product line.

87% of Grayscale Bitcoin Trust is the property of institutional investors. In the fourth quarter of last year, Grayscale made record profits as a digital asset manager by raising $3.3 billion in assets. It is three times the amount of $1 billion in the third quarter of last year. The Bitcoin Trust bought an average of $217 million of Bitcoin per week in the fourth quarter of last year.

Grayscale trusts help investors expose cryptocurrency prices without having to own digital assets directly.

Meanwhile, QBTC, a bitcoin ETF product of 3iQ, a large Canadian investor, surpassed $1 billion in assets under management for the first time ever.
