Kia’s new semi-large sedan K8 begins pre-contracting on the 23rd. The K8 will be released early next month.

K8 will prioritize pre-contracts for a total of three models: 2.5 and 3.5 gasoline, and 3.5 LPI. The 1.6 gasoline turbo hybrid model is planned to be added in the first half of the year.

Kia applied the front-wheel-based AWD (four-wheel drive) system to the K8 3.5 gasoline model for the first time in a domestic semi-large sedan. The AWD system determines road conditions and driving conditions in real time, and actively distributes driving power to the front and rear wheels to provide a stable driving feel. An electronically controlled suspension was also applied to the 3.5 gasoline model.

The 3.5 gasoline model and the 3.5 LPI model are equipped with a new 8-speed automatic transmission with a two-chamber torque converter applied for the first time in Korea.

The torque converter that connects the engine and the transmission smoothly transmits the force (torque) generated by the engine to the transmission, and serves to directly couple the engine and the transmission through the damper clutch in the torque converter.

K8 is equipped with Kia’s most advanced driver assistance system’Drive Wise’.

The driving assistance functions applied to the K8 are Highway Driving Assistance 2 (HDA2), Forward Collision Avoidance Assistance (FCA), Smart Cruise Control (SCC), and Remote Smart Parking Assistance (RSPA). In addition, rear side monitor (BVM), rear parking collision avoidance assistance (PCA), rear collision avoidance assistance (BCA), rear cross collision avoidance assistance (RCCA), safety disembarkation assistance (SEA), rear passenger notification (ROA), etc. Supported.

In addition, for the first time in Korea, the rear part of the first row of headrests has the form of a hanger for hanging bags or clothes.

The intuitive infotainment system is also unique to the K8.

Panoramic curved displays were located in the front of the interior. The Panoramic Display consists of a 12.3-inch dashboard that provides differentiated designs for each drive mode, and a 12.3-inch infotainment system that supports calendar linking schedule confirmation and departure time notification, and’Kia Pay’ for easy payment in the vehicle.

In addition, a 12-inch head-up display (HUD), which has improved visibility by increasing the projected area and graphic size by 50% compared to the previous Kia, was applied for the first time. The head-up display helps safe and convenient driving by clearly showing driving essential information such as advanced driver assistance systems, speedometers, and traffic signs on the windshield.

In addition, the K8 is equipped with a voice recognition function capable of complex control, so that the air conditioner, ventilation/heating seat, and steering wheel heating function can be controlled simultaneously with a single command.
