The Korea Baseball Commission (KBO) judged that some of the recently occurred fraudulent activities such as sports Toto participation and illegal Internet gambling were a serious issue, and requested 10 clubs to prevent recurrence.

On the 19th, KBO announced on the 19th that it had sent a letter to all clubs requesting that they take full care in managing the clean baseball-related squad and preventing recurrence.

KBO plans to apply personal punishment and worker punishment as a rule, as strict as possible within the scope set by the relevant rules and regulations, as cheating and damage of dignity continue to occur within the league.

In particular, it plans to improve the effectiveness of the sanctions regulations by reorganizing incomplete regulations such as subdividing the sanction criteria and grounds for misconduct and specifying them in the rules, and strengthening the authority of the KBO Investigation Committee.

During the spring camp, KBO is planning education on the subject of sports Toto participation, illegal (sports) gambling, drunk driving, game manipulation, sexual violence, and doping.

Due to the spread of the new coronavirus infection (Corona 19) last year, only non-face-to-face online training was conducted during the season, but this season, additional on-site training is planned for each club during the spring camp period under quarantine guidelines.

For more effective education, KBO cooperates with related organizations such as Korea Professional Sports Association, Sports Toto Korea, Korea Gambling Problem Management Center, Korea Anti-Doping Committee, and Korea Professional Baseball Players Association. This training is not only for athletes and club officials, but also for all KBO officials, including KBO employees and referees.

In addition, in connection with the Korean Baseball Softball Association (KBSA), Ama Baseball players will continue to receive sports ethics training before joining a pro.

KBO governor Ji-taek Ji-taek said, “We will provide training on clean baseball before the season begins. We will communicate with players even in the regular season and continue to deliver messages about the importance of clean baseball. (gambling, etc.) “We will do our best to reinforce policies and improve the system to prevent deviant behavior to prevent accidents.”

Meanwhile, it was known that Doosan Bears pitcher Hyun-wook Jung and catcher Kwon Ki-young had access to Sports Toto and inappropriate speculation sites, which became controversial.
