Promote the 2·4 supply plan without a hitch

[아시아경제 장세희 기자]The government declared a war on real estate crime in connection with allegations of land speculation by employees of the Korea Land and Housing Corporation (LH). In addition, it is expected to release regulations on land-secured loans from second financial sectors such as local agricultural cooperatives within this month.
On the 14th, a government official said, “We plan to come up with a mechanism to check loans for speculative purposes.” Commercial banks do not handle farmland mortgage loans well, but local agricultural cooperatives provide loans to farmers relatively easily using rice paddies and fields as collateral.
Deputy Prime Minister Hong Nam-ki and Minister of Strategy and Finance also said, “The LH speculation case was possible because a large-scale loan was made at a specific branch in the banking sector.”
The government is in a position to speed up discussions on amendments to laws related to real estate to prevent speculation, strengthen penalties, and prevent recurrence. Currently, the National Assembly is discussing the Conflict of Interest Prevention Act, the Public Officials Ethics Act, the Public Housing Special Act, the Land and Housing Corporation Act, and the Real Estate Transaction Act as LH-related laws.
It was decided to carry out the 2·4 supply plan as planned. Deputy Prime Minister Hong added, “The real estate policy, including measures to supply 2·4 housing, will continue to be carried out without a hitch according to the already announced plan and the proposed schedule.”
