The government said, “I express my deep condolences and deep condolences to the bereaved families” for the deaths of eight people, including four Koreans, in a recent shooting in Atlanta, USA.

The government said in a commentary by a spokesman for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on the 20th, “I would like to express my sincere consolation to our compatriots and Asian communities in the United States who were greatly shocked by this serial shooting.

The government emphasized, “I strongly support the efforts of the US government to combat hate and violence based on a firm and consistent position that crimes like this one are never tolerated in any case.”

In addition, he explained, “at the last meeting of the US and foreign ministers of foreign affairs and defense, the US government agreed to actively take action for the safe and stable life of Korean Americans.”

In addition, he added, “We plan to continue our best efforts”, saying that we will cooperate closely with the US government and Congress, related major private organizations, and the Korean American Association to respond to similar incidents.

On the 16th (local time), a total of eight victims, including four Korean Americans, were killed in the shooting of Robert Aaron Long, 21, who was pointed out as a suspect. Six out of the eight victims were found to be of Asian origin.

Meanwhile, US President Joe Biden said on the 19th that he visited Atlanta where the incident took place and met with Asian leaders. President Biden heard about discrimination and violence against Asian Americans.
