The Ministry of Science and ICT announced on the 13th that it will accept SK Telecom’s 5G·LTE online-only rate plans after reviewing and listening to expert opinions in accordance with Article 28 of the Telecommunications Business Act and Article 35 of the Enforcement Decree of the same Act.
In the case of 5G, it provides 9GB of data for 38,000 won per month, 200GB of data for 52,000 won per month, and unlimited data for 62,000 won per month. LTE consists of 1.8GB of data for 22,000 won per month, 5GB of data for 35,000 won per month, and 100GB of data for 48,000 won per month.
The Ministry of Science and ICT said, “The rate plan reported by SK Telecom is intended for online subscribers, and we have considered the aspect of lowering the rate by reflecting the reduction in distribution costs and responding to the recent trend of non-face-to-face in society.”
According to the Ministry of Science and ICT, SK Telecom plans to lower the wholesale price of affordable phones to relieve the negative impact on the affordable phone market with the launch of this plan. In addition, it is explained that it has decided to report additional reports as soon as possible for small and medium-sized sections of the 5G plan.
In addition, the Ministry of Science and ICT ordered SK Telecom to compare the existing rates on the subscription site and inform them faithfully in advance to avoid confusion in terms of use.
The Ministry of Science and ICT said, “We plan to continuously check the provision of accurate price information to users during the implementation process.”
