According to the automobile industry on the 20th, Chairman Chung plans to visit Singapore as early as next week to check the progress of the construction of the’Singapore Global Innovation Center (HMGICS)’ under construction by Hyundai Motor Group. This is the first overseas business trip for Chairman Chung, who took office last October.
HMGICS, which is being built by Hyundai Motor Group, is an open base that studies and demonstrates the entire life cycle of automobiles such as order-production-test drive-india-service. Chairman Chung tried to attend the groundbreaking ceremony held in October last year, but only participated in the groundbreaking ceremony held online due to the spread of Corona 19. He said at the time, “Hyundai Motor Group will improve the quality of customer life based on HMGICS’ vision of’human-centered value chain innovation for mobility paradigm shift’.” said.
HMGICS will be built in Singapore’s Kowloon Innovation Complex with a land area of 44,000m2, a total floor area of 90,000m2 and 7 stories above ground. The goal is to complete it at the end of next year. On the rooftop, there will be a 620m long test drive’Sky Track’ that allows high-speed driving, an urban aviation mobility (UAM) takeoff and a solar panel for eco-friendly energy production. Inside the building, various consumer experience facilities, research and development (R&D) and work spaces for office work, and small-scale manufacturing facilities will be equipped.
Through this center, Hyundai Motor Group will experiment to innovate the value chain throughout the entire vehicle life cycle. When a consumer visits the center or signs a car through a smartphone, the center immediately produces the car according to the order. Consumers can also watch the production process of their cars in a separate space within the center. The produced car is tested and delivered on the rooftop Sky Track.
