[경남데일리 = 배성우 기자] On the 14th Cancer Prevention Day and Cancer Prevention Week, Gimhae City will conduct non-face-to-face publicity for the 2021 National Cancer Screening Project for early detection and early treatment of cancer, the number one cause of death in the nation.
This year’s national cancer screening targets were born in odd-numbered years, and the target carcinomas were stomach cancer, liver cancer, colon cancer, breast cancer, cervical cancer, and lung cancer.
In particular, the colorectal cancer screening is applicable to both men and women over the age of 50.
Those who are eligible for cancer screening in the current year can check whether they can be screened at a designated cancer screening institution and receive a screening by the end of the year.
Citizens who were subject to examination in the previous year but who could not be examined can also be registered as subjects for this year’s examination after calling the National Health Insurance Service to verify their identity, and those who were subject to examination in the previous year must be examined within the first half of this year.
During Cancer Prevention Week, the city is conducting phone promotions, SMS sending, and individual mailings through counselors to activate cancer screenings, and is carrying out various promotional activities such as banners, electronic boards, and media promotions.
Lee Jong-hak, head of the Gimhae City Health Center, said, “As in last year, the spread of Corona 19 has not been reduced, and the screening rate has been greatly reduced due to the occurrence of sporadic infectious diseases. Early treatment is possible, so I hope that the candidates for the examination will take the time to take the examination.”
