[smartPC사랑=남지율 기자] GIGABYTE’s notebook lineup’Aero’ is a product line that video creators pay attention to because it is equipped with a high-performance CPU and a GPU that is higher than the mainstream and has excellent portability. This product line is equipped with a 4K OLED display depending on the model, providing an optimized environment for video editors.
Gigabyte reorganized its Aero lineup with the advent of the RTX 30 series for laptops. Elements such as the 3mm ultra-slim bezel and various ports that were well received in the previous work have been inherited. The battery capacity of the new Aero has increased to 99Wh, which is the maximum capacity for consignment to the aircraft, and it is suitable for video editing as well as gaming with the application of a new top plate design and powerful RTX 30 series GPU.
The lineup consists of three models equipped with an RTX 3080 Max-Q, RTX Max-Q 3070, and RTX 3060 Max-Q equipped with a 4K OLED display, and an RTX 3070 Max-Q model with an FHD 144Hz panel.
In this review, I will introduce’AERO 15 OLED XC (hereinafter referred to as Aero XC)’, which uses RTX 3070 Max-Q and 4K OLED.

Aluminum body with advanced technology
The Aero XC has a thin thickness of only 2 cm, even though many high-performance components are installed. The material is aluminum, which is mainly used for flagship notebooks. Thanks to this, it is at the low 2kg level that is quite light for a high-performance creator laptop.
It is worth noting that’nanoimprint lithography’, a 100nm-class advanced process technology, was applied. As sophisticated processing technology is applied, the detailed design is well expressed and the finish is high-quality.
Overall, the design inherited the previous generation aero lineup. The white LED logo and metal plate that symbolize Aero are still there. However, the pattern on the top of the laptop has changed.
Unlike the previous work, which emphasized a sharp image, this Aero XC has a futuristic and calm asymmetric pattern.
4K OLED and NVIDIA RTX studio support
Unlike gaming laptops that prioritize the refresh rate, creators’ laptops are important for accurate color and high resolution. In that respect, the display mounted on Aero XC can be seen as providing the best environment for creators.
Since the Samsung 4K OLED display that satisfies DCI-P3 100% is applied, it is more comfortable than most desktop monitors. In particular, since the product is shipped after’X-Rite Pantone color correction’, it is more reliable to use, and it is also attractive that 4K original sources can be fully checked without connecting an external monitor.
In content consumption, we were able to realize the overwhelming picture quality of 4K OLED panels. Since the refresh rate was 60Hz, it showed excellent compatibility with packaged games or video contents. In addition, as it satisfies’VESA DisplayHDR 400′, it is suitable for consumption of HDR content. When I watch 4K HDR content on Netflix, I am not envious of 4K OLED TVs.
Note that it supports’Nvidia RTX Studio (hereinafter referred to as RTX Studio)’. RTX Studio is a technology that speeds up work through GPU acceleration when using professional applications such as Adobe Premiere Pro, Adobe Lightroom, Autodesk, and DaVinci Resolve.
Thanks to this technology, in the Premiere Pro video editing export test (H.264 4K UHD YouTube setting), the speed of the desktop PC (Ryzen 3600X, 16GB DDR4 memory, Radeon RX 5500 XT) was achieved. For reference, the video used in the test was processed from a 4K video source of 10 GB in 16 minutes and 39 seconds, and the subtitle effect and transition effect were also applied. The desktop PC took 28 minutes 29 seconds and the Aero XC 28 minutes 19 seconds.
Cooling solution without problems even with the RTX 30 series
When buying a gaming or work laptop, it’s important to look carefully at the cooling solution. This is because no matter how high-performance chipset is installed, if the cooling is poor, the performance cannot be exhibited due to throttling.
Aero XC applied’Windforce Infinity Cooling System’ for this purpose. Consisting of two 71-blade fans, five heat pipes, and a copper heat sink, this cooling solution also quickly cools the RTX 30 series of heat.
I ran’Assassin’s Creed: Valhalla’ to directly check the heat control performance. The option is the highest preset for 4K resolution, and I waited for 20 minutes as a fixed point in the prologue. Even though it was a high-end 4K game, the temperature of the graphics card was maintained at 80 degrees.
Inversion performance hidden in thin thickness
I checked the performance of Aero XC myself. First, we examined the performance of the Core i7-10870H through the CPU-Z benchmark. It scored 533.5 points for single thread and 3701 points for multi-thread. It recorded a single-threaded score similar to the desktop CPU, Core i7-8700K, and the multi-threaded 8-core 16-thread CPU, and the Core i7-10870H dominated.
Storage is equipped with 1TB of NVMe SSD. When I measured the speed with the crystal disk macro, the continuous read speed was 2091MB/s, and the continuous write speed was 3030MB/s. The continuous writing speed is excellent, so it is expected that it will show a light in video editing.
The GPU is equipped with GeForce RTX 3070 Max-Q. When I checked the graphics score with Fire Strike and Time Spy benchmarks, they scored 23,524 points and 9,285 points, respectively.
Next, we conducted actual game performance tests. First, I ran the benchmark of’Assassin’s Creed: Valhalla’. Very high The average of 55, minimum 27, and maximum 103 frames based on the 4K resolution of the preset were confirmed. When the FHD resolution was set under the same conditions, an average of 82, a minimum of 36, and a maximum of 125 frames were recorded. It can be said that it runs quite comfortably.
Next is Overwatch. The option is the best setting for 4K resolution, and the rendering scale is 100%. Looking around the training ground, the average frame was measured at 80.676, the minimum frame was 70 and the maximum frame was 94.
The last game we tested was Battleground. The resolution is 4K, and national options (texture, anti-aliasing, distance view are set to ultra, and other options are very low). When I measured the frames in the leg section of the training ground, it recorded an average of 96.1 frames, a minimum of 83 frames, and a maximum of 102 frames.

Aero XC is a laptop with excellent portability, but the 4K OLED display and RTX studio meet to provide an excellent video editing environment. In particular, the RTX 30 series GPU, which has significantly improved performance than the previous generation, was able to enjoy content creation as well as 4K gaming. If neither performance nor weight can be compromised, this laptop will be an excellent choice. The Aero XC is priced at 2,599,000 won.
