Organizations submit a petition for disciplinary action to the prosecution
Rep. Nam In-soon demands resignation

Jin Hye-won, vice president, Seoul Dongbu District Prosecutor’s Office
Women’s organizations called for dismissal of prosecutor Jin Hye-won, vice-president of the Seoul East District Prosecutors’ Office, saying that Park Won-soon made a second abusive remark to the victim of the alleged sexual harassment case. On the same day, they also demanded the resignation of Democratic Party lawmaker Nam In-soon, who was pointed out as one of the parties to the alleged sexual harassment leak. Four groups, including the Korean Women’s Political Network and the Progressive Party, held a press conference in front of the Seoul East District Prosecutor’s Office at 10:30 am on the 21st, saying, “Prosecutor Jin Hye-won, who has consistently made a second remark on the victims of sexual violence in political power, did not fulfill his duties as a prosecutor. He claimed that he lost face, and this is the reason for disciplinary action under the Prosecutor’s Discipline Act. They pointed out that Prosecutor Jin was inflicting severe secondary harm. On the 14th, the court judged the case of sexual assault by a former Seoul Mayor’s secretary’s office. On this day, Prosecutor Jin posted an article on his Facebook titled’The Assault Troop Justice’, and the next day,’Why does the flower snake occur and why do you change your face if you are wrong?’ Although it did not mention a specific case, the women’s group stipulated it as a second offense against the victims of the alleged harassment of Mayor Park. Organizations said, “On the 14th, the court admitted that Mayor Park Won-soon was sexually assaulted in the ruling of a former Seoul city employee accused of raping a fellow employee (a victim of alleged harassment of Mayor Park). On Facebook, the judiciary was compared to the’Nazis who had fun with far-right terrorism’, and the following day,’Why does the flower snake occur and why does it change?’, giving irreversible insult to victims of sexual violence and women in South Korea.” He criticized. They continued, “Prosecutor Jin used the expression’flower snake’ that leads women to vulgarity, and disparaged the damage of power-type sexual violence as’pretending to be pure and innocent’ of a clever and lewd female to raise her social and economic status. It represented the typical perpetrator logic.” Hong Hee-jin, chairman of the Progressive Party’s Human Rights Committee, said, “Dismiss prosecutor Jin Hye-won, who is continuing the second offense while giving up his job as a prosecutor. “The second offense by Prosecutor Jin is an act that seriously undermines the trust in the prosecution not only of the victims of the sexual assault case of Mayor Park, but also women and victims of sexual violence in Korean society.” After the press conference, they submitted a petition to the Dongbu District Prosecutor’s Office for disciplinary action against Jin and sent it to the Dongbu District Prosecutor’s Office by registration. On July 15, last year, prosecutor Jin posted a picture of former Mayor Park and her arms folded, saying, “I am a feminist, I am assaulted because I told you that I was assaulting,” controversy. Accordingly, the Korean Women’s Lawyers Association sent an official letter to the Supreme Prosecutors’ Office calling for a request for disciplinary deliberation by Jin. After the press conference in front of the Dongbu District Prosecutor’s Office, these groups held a press conference in front of the regional office of Rep. Nam In-soon, Songpa-gu, Seoul at 11:30 am. They said, “Rep. Nam In-soon gave advance notice of the incident to Seoul Gender Specialist Lim Soon-young, who was formerly his aide, and gave the perpetrator Park Won-soon the opportunity to destroy the evidence. If Congressman Nam did not inform the Gender News about the support of women to the victims, the victim would have been guaranteed an opportunity to clarify in accordance with the procedures of the national system, he said.
