A former Seoul Mayor’s secretary office employee who was handed over to trial for sexual assault on a victim of sexual harassment suspected by former Seoul Mayor Park Won-soon said at the appeal trial that, unlike the first trial,’we admit all the charges’. He said that he wanted to agree with the victim, but said that the victim had no intention of agreeing. At the first appeal trial hearing of former Seoul Mayor’s secretary office employee Jeong Ah Mu-gae, 41, held at the hearing of the 9th Criminal Division of the Seoul High Court (Judge Moon Kwang-seop), Mr. Jeong said, “I acknowledge the facts of the prosecution.” After eating with former and current employees of the Seoul Mayor’s secretary’s office on April 14 last year, Jeong sexually assaulted a drunk victim and made him suffer post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), which requires treatment for more than six months. ). In the first trial, Mr. Jeong denied some of the charges, saying, “The victim’s post-traumatic stress disorder is due to sexual harassment by the former mayor of Seoul,” but at the appeal trial, he acknowledged all the charges, but said he would fight with the purpose of’heavier brother’. The first trial court in this case admitted all charges against Mr. Jeong in January, sentenced him to three years and six months in prison and ordered him to complete a 40-hour sexual assault program. At the trial on that day, Mr. Jeong’s lawyer said, “We are trying to reach an agreement with the victim.” However, attorney Kim Jae-ryun on the victim’s side drew a line, saying, “(The defendant side) has communicated his intentions regarding the settlement, but the victim has no intention to settle until now.” After the trial, lawyer Kim met with the reporters and said, “The defendant has admitted all the crimes and accepted the contents of the first trial, so I hope the victims agree.” He added, “I wonder if the accused (the defendant who partially denied the allegations) gave up on the judgment,” he added. Earlier in this case, the first trial court convicted Mr. Chung and said, “There is a report (from a psychiatrist) that the victim suffered from post-traumatic stress disorder due to a feeling of betrayal and shame for having suffered damage from Mr. Chung, whom he had trusted for a long time. The victim complained of the way the crime was handled in the workplace and the stress caused by false rumors. He committed a crime against a co-worker, and the victim is having a hard time returning to society.” By Shin Min-jeong, staff reporter
