Korea Gas Safety Corporation has started a full-fledged move for a project to support the creation of an ecosystem for the hydrogen industry.

On the 3rd, the Gas Safety Corporation held a delivery ceremony for free rental of high-performance inspection equipment at the Eumseong Samhan Hydrogen Station to ease the burden of safety management costs for hydrogen charging companies.

The project is a project that KDHC purchases four essential equipment for safety inspection at hydrogen charging stations (hydrogen gas leak detector, ground resistance tester, thermal imager, and standard gas injection device) and lends it to a hydrogen charging station free of charge. It is part of the’Comprehensive Measures for Hydrogen Safety Management’ announced in December 2019, supporting the government’s early achievement of the hydrogen economy.

Accordingly, if a hydrogen charging company wishes to lease inspection equipment, they will receive 4 types of inspection equipment worth about 8 million won free of charge. The free lease period can be up to four years, and it is the KNOC’s judgment that it will ease the initial cost burden on operators. In addition, the construction expects that there will be a great effect in strengthening the self-safety management of hydrogen charging companies.

Hae-jong Lim, President of Korea Gas Safety Corporation, said, “Early this year, we established the Hydrogen Safety Technology Institute and provided a free rental business for high-performance inspection equipment, as well as a project to support hydrogen quality inspection fees, secure inspection reliability of three key hydrogen facilities, and establish a permanent safety inspection and safety management support system. “We look forward to the fact that we, the Korea Hydrogen Safety Agency, will be able to serve as a safe support for the expansion of the hydrogen economy by making every effort to create a sustainable hydrogen safety ecosystem and strengthen win-win cooperation.”
