Garmin announced on the 28th that it is releasing the’Descent Mk2′ series (photo), a universal dive computer that can be used both underwater and on the ground with a large number of innovative functions. The Decent Mk2 series will be released in two versions,’Decent Mk2′ for free divers and’Descent Mk2i’ for scuba divers. The screen is 36% larger than Garmin’s first dive computer’Descent Mk1′ in Korea in 2018. With a 1.4-inch color display, data can be easily checked underwater and boasts excellent readability.

In addition to the 3-axis compass and ABC sensor, it supports a number of global satellite systems such as GPS, GLONASS, and Galileo, and can mark the entry and exit points. It even features a wrist-based pulse oximeter sensor that helps users adjust to altitude and monitor their breathing conditions in more detail. Decent Mk2 series provides essential data to safely enjoy diving such as current depth/water temperature, dive time, NDL/TTS, ascent/descent speed, gas mixing, PO2, N2 loading, decompression stop information, etc. , Apnea, and Rebreather (CCR) mode that extends the no-decompression limit time allows for more diverse diving experiences

The Descent Mk2 series can store and review data up to 200 dives, and share and analyze records with other users through the Garmin Dive app. Using the’Explore Tool’ function, you can search for a new dive site and check the climatic conditions and popularity of the place.

In addition, Garmin released the transmitter’Descent T1′ along with the Descent Mk2 series. It is a compact device attached to the high pressure regulator port and is newly equipped with’SubWave’ sonar data network technology that provides more extended range and stability compared to the existing oxygen integrated system. The diver’s tank pressure, remaining oxygen time, oxygen consumption, and battery level are transmitted to the paired dive computer screen so that the diver can check the data in real time.

In addition, it can be connected to up to 5 transmitters within a range of 10m, so you can dive into multiple tanks or check the oxygen status of paired colleagues, which is also useful for instructors conducting diving classes. The Descent T1 is compatible with the Descent Mk2i, has sturdy durability and 11ATM (110m) waterproof rating.

In addition, the Descent Mk2 series supports various sport modes such as swimming, running, cycling, rowing, golf, skiing, hiking, yoga, and Pilates. Thanks to this, it can be used as a smart watch for activities even during the off-season diving. It contains maps of more than 41,000 golf courses around the world and ski courses of more than 2000 ski resorts. ‘PacePro’, which allows you to receive guides according to the running section, and’Climb Pro’, which provides real-time information such as slope, distance, and elevation when climbing, are also equipped.

The battery life of the Descent Mk2 series with 10ATM (EN13319/100 meters) water resistance rating is up to 80 hours in dive mode, 16 days in smartwatch mode, 48 hours in GPS mode, 15 hours when playing music in GPS mode, and maximum battery GPS. It can be used for 96 hours in mode, 50 days in battery-saving watch mode, and 35 days in Xpedition GPS mode.

The Decent Mk2 series and Decent T1 will be available for purchase from the Garmin Korea online and offline brand shops and other Garmin official sales online and offline stores from February 4th.
