A large-scale mass infection occurred in Busan’s Gamcheon Port, and the number of corona19 confirmed in Busan once again exceeded 50.
As of the afternoon of the 27th, the city of Busan announced that 52 new corona19 confirmed cases were added, and the cumulative number was 2,670. It has been 12 days since 59 confirmed cases came out on the 15th and more than 50 a day. In the meantime, around 20 infected people a day appeared, and the spread was slowing down.
Of the new confirmed cases on this day, 17 are workers belonging to the Gamcheon branch of the Busan Port Transport Union. As a result, 26 people were infected. Twenty are union workers, and six are their families. The total investigation of 342 union members in the Gamcheon branch has been completed.
In addition, one additional person was confirmed as a result of the inspection of the contact of an employee of a western port company, and the number of related cumulative confirmed cases increased to three.
Port-related infection routes are not yet known. Since the infection in the port is likely to be a contact with an overseas crew, the quarantine authorities are conducting viral genetic testing. An official from Busan City said, “Since overseas sailors are examined during the entry process, there is a high possibility of infection in the region,” he said. “But, we are looking closely to prepare for other cases.”
The aftershock of group infection at Bugok Nursing Hospital is also continuing. On that day, 13 patients and 2 additional workers were confirmed, and there were 56 patients (39 patients, 16 workers, and 1 contact) related to Bugok Nursing Hospital.
In addition, one of the participants in the Daejeon IEM International School Camp was included as a new confirmed case. In Busan, the camp was held from the 4th to 6th at IEM International School, and it was confirmed that 10 of Busan citizens participated. In addition to the previously identified 4 infected people, tests were conducted on the remaining 6 yesterday, and 1 was confirmed, and 5 were negative. There were no additional confirmed cases in the contact survey at the church attended by the participants.
