Market research firm Atlas Research & Consulting announced on the 5th that the cumulative domestic sales volume of 590,000 units for four weeks after the launch of the Galaxy S21 series. The Galaxy S21 series is an expensive flagship smartphone that Samsung Electronics introduced in January. It consists of three types: the basic model, the Galaxy S21, the high-end model, the Galaxy S21 Plus, and the Galaxy S21 Ultra.

After the Galaxy S8 series launched in 2017, Samsung Electronics showed a gradual decline in sales of the Galaxy S series models in the first month. This time, it showed a recovery trend approaching the level of sales in the first month of the Galaxy S8 launch.

Atlas Research & Consulting analyzed that the active marketing of mobile carriers seeking to expand 5G subscribers and increased demand for replacement by consumers who used the LTE model boosted sales. The decrease in the shipment price of the Galaxy S21 series (from 990,900 won to 990,000 won) compared to the Galaxy S20 series launched in 2020 (from 1,48,500 won) also led the sales.

The model that received the most selection in the Galaxy S21 series is the Galaxy S21. It accounted for 49.5% of all sales. Galaxy S21 Plus and Galaxy S21 Ultra accounted for 21.7% and 28.9%, respectively.

Jeong Geun-ho, director of Atlas Research & Consulting, said, “When vaccination for the new coronavirus infection (Corona 19) begins, the domestic smartphone market is expected to grow significantly this year as expectations for economic revitalization increase.”
