The petitioner said, “SBS granted a three-year conditional re-permission on the condition of improving the public responsibility and public interest of the terrestrial broadcasters and realizing the separation of ownership and management. “The drama shows the real background of the Joseon Dynasty and the early Joseon Dynasty and important historical figures that existed, but it provides a cause for distortion of Korean history to those who lack understanding of Korean history by seriously distorting history.” Stated the opinion.

In addition, “The Korea Communications Commission approved the change in the governance structure of SBS in June of last year, and imposed it on condition of the future value of the broadcaster, the resolution of the illegal situation resulting from the conversion of the holding company, and sincere consultation with the employee representative. Among the conditions, it was revealed that the majority shareholder did not properly implement any of the conditions,” he said. “We must promptly cancel the re-permission of terrestrial broadcasters from SBS.”

However, SBS is currently organizing and broadcasting the drama’Chosun-gu Masa’, which disregards and damages the history and culture of Korea by abandoning the public responsibility of terrestrial broadcasting.
This drama presents the real background of the Joseon Dynasty and the early Joseon Dynasty, and important historical figures that existed, while seriously distorting the history, providing the justification for the distortion of Korean history to those who lack understanding of Korean history.
Taejong is portrayed as a killer, Sejong is serving as a Westerner priest, insulting wood, and shaking even the foundations of Joseon history. Despite the background of Joseon history, the appearance of Chinese swords, Chinese armor, Chinese food, Chinese houses, Chinese liquor, Chinese musical instruments, and Korean shamans dressed in Chinese clothes, empowering the distortion of Korean history in China.

We urge you to revoke the terrestrial re-permission of SBS, which forsakens such public responsibility, makes false explanations, and continues to organize and broadcast the drama.
In addition, SBS’s holding company system (Taeyoung E&C → SBS Media Holdings → SBS → SBS subsidiary) has been abused as a tool to steal SBS broadcasting profits for the benefit of Taeyoung Construction, a major shareholder, and in June last year, the TY Holdings system (TY Holdings →SBS Media Holdings→SBS→SBS subsidiaries), further strengthening SBS’s dominance over major shareholders.
