A Korean woman running a store in Houston, Texas, USA, was violently assaulted by a black woman. There were also testimonies of discrimination against Asians in the process.
According to the Washington Post (WP) and ABC News on the 25th (local time), on the afternoon of the 17th, five black women entered the store of a Korean woman, Kim Mo, who runs a beauty shop in Texas. Kim’s son said in an interview that they made a mess inside the store, such as dancing inside the store, yelling, and knocking down the wig display.
It is said that they did not stop havoc even though they were forced to go out. Rather, he yelled at Mr. Kim, saying, “Fuck Chinese” and “Fuck Asian.” They later told Kim’s husband at the cashier that “Asians should not sell wigs to black people” and “You are taking our money” and then left the store.
They soon returned to the store and struck again. Eventually, the husband reported to the police, and three of the party left the store. However, the two remaining people began to assault Kim. A woman first swung her fist at Kim and then continued to beat Kim, who had fallen. The husband and son pushed them out of the store, but a woman later threatened her husband with a vehicle. The family explained that Kim had to undergo surgery because her nose was broken due to the assault.
In fact, in a closed circuit (CC) TV video reported by ABC in the United States, two black women wore masks and swung their fists at Kim passing by, and when Kim fell, they continued to swing their fists at the husband and son who ran. There was also a scene where the wig display was disturbed in the shop.
The Harris County Attorney’s Office has charged two black women, Kyundra Young and Dakisha Williams, of assault and other charges. Investigation authorities are investigating the possibility of racial crimes.
However, a black woman accused claimed in a local broadcast and an interview that after they entered the store, the owner felt like they were following them and spying on them because they were black.
Mr. Kim’s son told WP that “we didn’t do anything wrong, but they started the assault,” he said, and that it must have come from racial motives.
