FTC, Google sanctions imposed on game companies for Play Store

The Fair Trade Commission (FTC) has begun a step to sanction Google, which has caused controversy over domestic game companies.

The FTC sent Google a review report last week on allegations of disrupting the competing app market.

As a result of a survey conducted by the FTC in 2016, it was confirmed that Google provided some benefits to game companies that released games on the Google Play store, its app store, and interfered with other app markets.

The Google sanctions level for this case will be set during the first half of this year. The FTC will hold a plenary meeting and determine the level of sanctions when Google sends an opinion on the FTC review report.

In addition to allegedly forcing game companies to launch the Google Play store, Google is on charges of interfering with the development and use of its own OS by Korean mobile phone makers, which has been put forward at the FTC plenary meeting.
