As cases of mutant virus infections, which have more transmission power than existing coronavirus infections (Corona 19), have been steadily confirmed in Korea, the government has stepped up measures to manage inbound travelers.

According to the Central Defense Countermeasure Headquarters (Bangdaebon) on the 15th, a total of 94 mutant virus infections were confirmed in Korea until the previous day.

Among them, 75 people were infected with mutations originating from the UK, 13 people were infected with mutations from South Africa (South Africa), and 6 people were infected with mutations originating in Brazil.

The number of people infected with the mutant virus is likely to increase in the future.

This is because mutant viruses are spreading all over the world, and in some countries, in particular, the number of confirmed overseas inflows into Korea is showing an increasing trend as it is becoming a’dominant species’.

Therefore, in order to prevent the influx of mutant viruses as much as possible, the government first required that all quarantine exemptions from this day be tested at temporary living facilities immediately after entry, and must submit a negative PCR test within 5 to 7 days after entry. .

Previously, only domestic and foreign quarantine exemptions who entered the country from the mutant virus outbreak country only needed to submit a negative confirmation, but in the future, all national quarantine exemptions must submit a confirmation.

In principle, the quarantine exemption system was to be suspended for countries in which mutant virus infections occurred, but only for exceptional reasons such as expedited passage countries and overseas business trips for public affairs.

This is a measure following a series of infection cases among recent quarantine exemptions.

One out of six mutant virus infections identified the day before was also exempt from quarantine. This person has been confirmed to have been in contact with 16 colleagues after going to work, all of whom have been tested negative and are now in self-isolation.

Earlier, in the Chungbuk and Jeonbuk regions, a total of 54 people were estimated to have been infected by quarantine exemptions from Japan.

From the 22nd, the government is also planning to make it mandatory for all immigrants from Africa, including Koreans, to submit negative confirmations, while quarantining them in temporary living facilities to undergo PCR testing.

In particular, from the 24th, the government mandates all entrants to submit negative PCR confirmations. In the meantime, only foreigners entering the country were required to submit voice confirmations, but this was extended to Koreans.

In addition, a total of two additional PCR tests were required, one within one day immediately after entry and one before isolation. If you include one before leaving the country from abroad, it means that you must undergo a total of three diagnostic tests before and after entering the country.

The management of self-quarantine is also strengthened.

The government plans to appoint an’overseas immigrant management officer’ for each city, county and district to monitor the status and symptoms of self-isolation.

In addition, currently only confirmed cases from the UK, South Africa and Brazil are quarantined in single rooms, but in the future, all confirmed foreign cases will be quarantined in single rooms.
