Choo Shin-soo (39, SSG) shared his first domestic training impressions with his new teammates.
Choo Shin-soo joined the SSG team after completing self-isolation on the 11th. He had a meeting with the squad and coaching staff and expressed his determination, saying, “I came to the KBO League for the victory of the team.” He gave a high-priced watch to Lee Tae-yang, who gave up his back number (No. 17), and garnered a lot of attention.
The next day (12th) had a busy rest day. I had time with my parents I couldn’t meet during self-quarantine, and I ate with my friend Geun-woo Jeong, who had run a long way to meet her. The full-scale training took place before the evaluation match with KT held at Ulsan Munsu Stadium on the 13th. On September 28 last year, he stood on the ground six months after the Texas farewell game. In the same group as Kim Kang-min, he trained for batting, and he also trained for outfield defense. SSG coach Kim Won-hyung said, “Once we have to watch our training, it seems difficult to participate in the KT match on the 13th and 14th, and we are thinking about the evaluation match with Samsung on the 16th and 17th.”
After finishing defense training, Choo went into the batting cage once more. It was a willingness to raise the body as quickly as the digestion of outdoor training was delayed. The first training that was done like that. Choo Shin-soo laughed, saying, “The place where I should be (ground) was here. I was really happy.” After that, it gave meaning to the time of communion with new colleagues and juniors who can comfortably communicate in their native language. He said, “I also liked this when digesting the national team schedule. Of course I could speak English, but I couldn’t speak, hear, and understand in a comfortable language in the United States. It was difficult to say the deepest words in my heart, and I gave up over time and lived, but now “I’m so grateful and happy just for sharing while talking in my own language.”
We had a lot of conversations with Director Kim Won-hyung over a meal on the 11th. Director Kim said, “I thought there could be a’different point’ because I lived in the United States for a long time, but it wasn’t at all. It was very easy.” When I talked about the theory of hitting, I greatly sympathized with it. Choo Shin-soo also said that the first impression of the new command tower was very good. He said, “You’re charismatic, but I feel like you’re trying to treat the player as comfortably as possible,” he said.
Once again, he showed his will to win. The interest of domestic baseball fans is focused on Choo’s 2021 season performance. This is because although it is not a small age, the decline in skill was not seen. Shinsoo Choo responded to this interest, saying, “I don’t know what kind of grade I’ll be doing,” and “I gave up a lot when I left the United States. I didn’t come with the idea of turning the one year into my own personal experience. I came for it. I came because I have a dream and a goal.”
