Former player’s’sexual harassment and assault controversy’ in Daegu, “find facts within a short time

[스포츠월드=김진엽 기자] “Finding facts in a quick time.”

A national petition came out that a player who played an active part in the past professional football K-League 1 Daegu FC was sexually assaulted and assaulted by a senior player. In response, the Daegu side announced that it would check the facts in a short time.

On the 7th, a petition was posted on the Blue House National Petition bulletin board stating that’I want a fair punishment for the Daegu FC and the perpetrator for condoning the fact of sexual harassment and violence against my victim, my brother. The author claimed that his younger brother was continuously harassed by a senior player who was in the club while playing as a professional soccer player three years ago, and that he was also subjected to violence and sexual harassment. He claimed that this ended his dream of becoming a professional player.

There was also an explanation of the perpetrator. The author said, “I am angry and ridiculous to say that the head of the club from the same region is supervising at the Foundation Football Club operated by Jinju, coaching students and receiving the Excellent Leadership Award. It was also added that the Daegu club did not take appropriate action even though it was aware of this fact.

As the petition became controversial, Daegu immediately announced its position. Through the club’s official channel, “I am sincerely sorry for causing concern to fans once again due to an unpleasant issue between the former players. The club will take this issue seriously and will make every effort to clarify the facts as soon as possible. With this issue as an opportunity, we promise to give more attention to the management and communication of the team.”

He added, “I deeply apologize once again to the fans who support Daegu with a series of issues related to the players.”

In recent years, problems related to sex as well as violence are occurring frequently in the sports world. In women’s professional volleyball, Jae-young Lee and Lee Da-young, the twins of Heungkuk Life, ended their careers for a while due to school violence and the so-called school violence controversy. In the soccer world, it was argued that FC Seoul midfielder Ki Sung-yong sexually harassed junior players in elementary school before the start of the season.

Since the controversy over the assault, those who have been accused as perpetrators are even engaged in legal battles, so this issue is not expected to easily pass.
