Former Channel A reporter Lee Dong-jae is likely to be released

Former Channel A reporter Lee Dong-jae, who was indicted on charges of attempted coercion, and was handed over to the trial, is scheduled to be tried in a state of disability after the period of detention expires. As the trial is postponed, there is a high possibility that the court will change.

On the 26th, Seoul Central District Court Criminal 1 (presiding judge Park Jin-hwan) changed the trial date for former reporter Lee and Channel A reporter Baek Seung-woo, who were arrested on charges such as Forced Mi-su, from the 27th to the 17th of next month. As the central district law is scheduled for a regular greeting on the 3rd of next month, the possibility of a change in the judiciary is predicted.

According to the Criminal Procedure Act, a defendant accused of detention can be detained for up to six months at the stage of the first trial court. Former reporter Lee was prosecuted on August 5 last year. It will be released four days before the deadline expires next month.

On October 7 last year, former reporter Lee requested bail permission to continue the trial in a state of disability to the court after three months of arrest.

Attorney Jin-woo Joo, former reporter’s litigation agent, told Media Today on the 27th, “In principle, a maximum of six months is imprisoned during the first trial trial.” It is human rights to be released as soon as possible.”

Meanwhile, the Open Democratic Party’s representative Choi Kang-wook was indicted without custody on the 26th for defaming the former reporter’s reputation by spreading false facts related to the’Channel A Proverb Convergence Suspect Case’.

In April of last year, CEO Choi told his Facebook reporter Lee Cheol to former Value Invest Korea CEO, “It may not be true. Say that you gave money to the chairman of the Roh Moo Hyun-dan, Shi-min Yoo. Then that’s it.”

However, the letter sent by former reporter to former CEO Lee Cheol in prison did not contain such content. Accordingly, the Solidarity of Action for the Right to Rule of the Law filed a complaint with the Seoul Central District Prosecutor’s Office in April of last year.
