The guilty was convicted of former and current executives of Samsung Group affiliates who were handed over to trial for participating in the disruption of the Samsung Electronics Service union.

The first part of the Supreme Court (Chief Chief Justice Park Jeong-hwa) confirmed the court sentence in appeal of about 30 people, including former and current executives including Samsung Electronics Vice President Kang Kyung-hoon, who were charged with violating the Labor Relations Adjustment Act on the 4th.

Samsung Electronics Vice President Kang Kyung-hoon was sentenced to 1 year and 4 months in prison, and Samsung Lions CEO Won Ki-chan was sentenced to 1 year and 6 months in prison and 2 years probation. Samsung C&T CEO Jeong Geum-yong and Samsung Electronics Vice President Park Yong-ki were each confirmed to be sentenced to one year in prison, two years probation, and ten months in prison, two years probation.

Former Samsung Electronics Service Executive Vice President Choi Pyeong-seok (1 year imprisonment), Jong-gyun Jeong, Samsung Electronics Executive Vice President (1 year imprisonment), and former Samsung Electronics Service Representative Park Sang-beom (1 year and 4 months imprisonment) have been sentenced to prison terms.

They have been tried on charges of planning a so-called’green strategy’ in 2013 to break down the movement to establish a union of Samsung Electronics Services, a subsidiary, led by the HR support team of the former Future Strategy Office. It was investigated that they set up a general situation room and engaged in repression such as wage cuts.

However, Lee Sang-hoon, the former chairman of the board of directors of Samsung Electronics, was admitted to the conspiracy and participation, but his innocence was maintained on the grounds that the evidence was illegally collected.
