LG HelloVision announced that it will utilize Lee Ji-ae’s AI announcer for the’Go Together with Our Village’ campaign program that introduces local news, local weather and daily life information program’Weather and Life’ and local small business stores.
In the long term, LG Hello Vision plans to expand and apply the AI announcer Ji-ae Lee to disaster broadcasting, regional policy briefings, and broadcast programs of untact cultural events.
LG HelloVision said, “It is part of the strategy for digital conversion of regional channels.” “AI announcers can produce news videos by simply entering text, so even when it is difficult for human announcers to appear, local news can be delivered in detail and quickly. In particular, it is expected to show great success in disaster broadcasts, late-night and early morning news. He said, “We plan to use AI announcers first to deliver essential information such as evacuation tips for each disaster, and expand the scope of application to news alerts as the solution advances.”
LG HelloVision’s AI announcer was developed by Moneybrain, an AI-specialized company. Real people are photographed, their gestures, speech, and facial expressions are recorded, and then developed through deep learning learning. The developed artificial intelligence announcer realizes the expression and tone similar to that of the person when a keyword is entered.
Other broadcasters are also introducing or developing AI announcers. MBN has produced Moneybrain and Kim Joo-ha, an AI announcer, and is using it for online news and some broadcast reports. YTN Plus is developing an artificial intelligence announcer with the aim of introducing this year with EastSoft.
The introduction of artificial intelligence announcers is increasing at home and abroad. Instead of implementing an existing announcer like Korea, Japan often broadcasts through virtual announcers. When the typhoon’Swallow’ landed in 2018, Japan’s local radio broadcaster FM Wakayama received attention by sending out a disaster broadcast at night through an artificial intelligence announcer. The AI announcer can automatically switch to voice and broadcast it by simply entering text, and it is evaluated that it is suitable for disaster broadcasting because it can broadcast in foreign languages.
The artificial intelligence announcer’News Yomiko’, produced by NHK Broadcasting Technology Research Institute based on the robot live broadcasting technology, appears as a 3D character on’News Check 11′, and talks with human announcers and introduces news items.
