Emergency fine dust reduction measures will be initiated from 6 am to 9 pm on the 14th in 6 areas in the metropolitan area, Seoul, Incheon, Gyeonggi, Chungnam, Chungbuk, and Sejong.
This is in accordance with the satisfaction of the requirements for issuing emergency reduction measures as it is expected that the high concentration situation where the concentration of ultrafine dust (PM2.5) exceeds 50㎍/㎥ is expected to continue in the metropolitan area and the Chungcheong area.
Accordingly, reinforced fine dust emission reduction measures, such as adjustment of the operation rate and operating hours, are implemented at compulsory workplaces and construction sites in the metropolitan area and Chungcheong area.
At 279 workplaces that emit large amounts of fine dust such as the power generation and paper industries, and public workplaces such as incinerators, measures such as changing operating hours, adjusting the utilization rate or improving efficiency are implemented.
At construction sites, measures to suppress flying dust are implemented, such as changing and adjusting the construction time, operating a sprinkler, and putting on a dust cover.
However, in consideration of the fact that vehicle traffic is small on holidays and is not concentrated at specific times, the 5th class car operation restrictions are not enforced.
In addition, in accordance with the’Winter Power Supply and Demand and Coal Power Reduction Measures’, on the 14th, a total of 14 coal power plants will be shut down and an upper limit (80% output limit) for a total of 44 coal power plants will be enforced. Plan.
In the Incheon-Chungnam area where emergency reduction measures were issued, 8 periods of operation will be suspended and 26 periods will be subject to upper limit restrictions.
Each provincial and jurisdiction regional and basin environmental agency plans to conduct inspections and crackdowns on workplaces that discharge large amounts of fine dust, and strengthen road cleaning to remove fugitive dust.
Environment Minister Han Jeong-ae said, “As high concentrations of fine dust are expected to continue, the government is planning to issue emergency reduction measures and thoroughly implement reduction measures for each field such as the seasonal management system.” Please refrain from wearing a mask and follow the National Participatory Travel Building.”
