On the 14th, while emergency measures to reduce high-concentration fine dust were issued in Chungnam Province, the province implemented measures to reduce major emission sources.

According to the province, at 6 a.m. on the 14th, an ultrafine dust (PM2.5) crisis alert’interest’ stage was issued in six areas nationwide including Chungnam.

As a result, the province shut down six coal-fired power plants in the province and enforced an upper limit for 22 units.

In addition, measures such as changing the operating hours, adjusting the utilization rate, and improving efficiency were taken at 60 sites that emit large amounts of fine dust such as petrochemicals.

Construction sites have implemented measures to control flying dust, such as changing and adjusting construction hours, operating a sprinkler, and putting on a dust cover.

Public workplaces, such as 72 private workplaces and household waste incinerators that do not have legal obligations, are voluntarily participating in emission reduction measures.

However, in consideration of the fact that the traffic volume of holiday vehicles is not concentrated during certain times, restrictions and crackdowns on vehicle operation of Level 5 were not implemented.

In addition, an emergency inspection meeting for ultrafine dust was held with 15 cities and counties in the province.

At this meeting, with the heads of the provinces and provinces of the provinces and provinces in attendance, the situation and plans for emergency reduction measures such as emission reduction measures at workplaces and construction sites, and expansion of road cleaning were shared.

On that day, the province checked the plan for the operation of a special inspection team composed of 62 municipal and military officials.

Nam-jae Lee, Director of Climate Environment Bureau, visited the Asan waste incineration facility to check the implementation of emergency reduction measures and listen to the difficulties of the site.

Director Lee said, “Since December last year, when the fine dust seasonal management system was implemented, there has been an effect of improving fine dust by 12.6% compared to the average for the last three years. In the event of fine dust, they were asked to participate in emergency reduction measures and refrain from outside activities.

On the other hand, Chungnam-do participated in a joint video conference held by relevant ministries prior to the emergency inspection meeting with the heads of the city and county environment departments, and suggested the establishment of a system for issuing emergency reduction measures in a wide area and provision of incentives for voluntary reduction workplaces.
