Today, the first day of vaccination for the new coronavirus infection (Corona 19) in Korea, 5,000 residents and workers in nursing facilities and nursing hospitals nationwide will receive the AstraZeneca (AZ) vaccine. On the 27th, the second day of vaccination, 300 of the medical staff who are at the forefront of responding to Corona 19 receive the Pfizer vaccine.
According to the order of vaccination by the Korea Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, on the 26th, 5,266 residents and workers under the age of 65 in 213 nursing homes nationwide will receive the AstraZeneca vaccine. Separately, vaccinations are also started in 292 nursing hospitals that received the AstraZeneca vaccine.
From the 27th, Pfizer vaccination will take place at the Central Vaccination Center at the National Medical Center in Jung-gu, Seoul. 199 workers at this medical center and 101 workers at Corona 19 treatment hospitals in the metropolitan area are subject to vaccination. The vaccination for all 55,000 medical staff treating COVID-19 patients is expected to be completed on the 20th of next month.
The vaccine for them is Pfizer’s vaccine, which was brought in through the international vaccine supply organization’CoVax Facility’. Since the distribution and storage temperature of Pfizer vaccine is difficult to around -75 degrees Celsius, the vaccination is first started at an inoculation center that can manage it well. From the 3rd of next month, vaccinations will be conducted at local vaccination centers such as Soonchunhyang University Cheonan Hospital, Yangsan Pusan National University Hospital, Chosun University Hospital, and Keimyung University Daegu Dongsan Hospital, a regional vaccination center. From the 8th of next month, the government plans to deliver the vaccine from the vaccination center to 82 in-house vaccination institutions, so that the vaccination can be carried out according to each institution’s plan.
