[아시아경제 김초영 인턴기자] In the Chinese drama’Make My Heart Smile’, a line that seems to disparage the Filipino domestic helper has appeared, raising the voice of criticism from Filipino netizens.

According to local media such as GMA News on the 16th, a Filipino netizen captured a scene from the drama being aired in China on Twitter and left a post saying, “As one of the Filipino people, this scene is very insulting and rude.”

The captured photo uploaded on Twitter contains a scene where a male actor cuts down the actress, saying “looks like a Filipino housekeeper.”

It is pointed out that the expression’Philippines domestic helper’ is used to disparage the other person and contains prejudice against Filipino domestic helpers.

Netizens who saw the post responded, “It hurts to see people treat Filipino domestic helpers as low-class people,” and “My mom works abroad. Please don’t ignore it.”

This post has received more than 60,000 likes and has been retweeted more than 16,000 times. As the criticism rose, the Aichi Philippines officially apologized through Twitter and released the drama, local media reported.
